About the Yorkshire Dales
The Yorkshire Dales boasts some of the finest limestone scenery in the UK.
Stone-built villages sit amongst traditional farming landscapes of field barns, drystone walls and flower-rich hay meadows.
Together, nature and people have created a special landscape of immense beauty and character.
DAY 1: After completing our local pick-up route we head towards Yorkshire, with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. Aiming to arrive at our hotel in good time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 2: The morning is yours to explore the ancient charms of Skipton, granted market status by King John in 1204.
In the afternoon, we embark on Skipton Boat Tour for the best 60 minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism while cruising fine countryside views as you’re guided along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
DAY 3: Today we have a private guided tour of Ripley Castle and Gardens. The stunning Grade I listed 14th century building is set in magnificent surroundings with lakes, deer park, walled gardens and hothouses.
In the afternoon, behold the romantic ruins of Bolton Abbey’s 12th century Augustinian Priory ruins before puffing through the Yorkshire Dales aboard the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway.
DAY 4: Today is a free day in York. Take a step back into the middle ages – the overhanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts of The Shambles as you immerse yourself into the history and heritage of this classic city.
DAY 5: We say a fond farewell to our hosts and make our way homeward with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route.
