About the North West
The north west is a region of contrast, from the cosmopolitan style and contemporary built environment of Manchester to the cultural credentials and architectural grandeur of Liverpool, the Roman and medieval heritage of Chester to the rolling hills of Lancashire and the stunning scenery around the Lake District.
DAY 1: After completing our local pick-up route we head towards Preston, with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. Aiming to arrive at our hotel in good time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 2: Today we have a trip on the Manchester Ship Canal. A 35-mile cruise that’s as awe-inspiring as it is relaxing. Enjoy spectacular scenery and a lively commentary that brings the story of the north west to life.
DAY 3: Today we travel to the East Lancashire Railway. Experience a voyage through rich landscapes on one of the UK’s best-kept heritage railways – it will be an unforgettable journey through the beautiful Irwell Valley. To conclude the day we visit Bury Transport Museum. The industrial heritage of the north west is brought to life before your very eyes through vintage vehicles and historic exhibits.
DAY 4: Today we head to Samlesbury Hall, one of the stunning stately homes of Lancashire. It’s a haven for history lovers – where the past meets the present. That’s followed by a guided coach tour of the Ribble Valley. An entertaining and scenic journey through a historic area rich in heritage and unspoilt landscapes.
DAY 5: We say a fond farewell to our hosts and make our way homeward with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. Aiming to arrive back in Kent early evening.
