Itinerary
DAY 1: After completing our local pick-up route we head towards Nottingham, with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. Aiming to arrive at our hotel in suitable time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 2: Today we will visit Cromford to board Birdswood, the historical narrow boat which is run entirely by volunteers. During the two-hour cruise through the beautiful Derwent Valley, you will enjoy the bespoke commentary and a tour of the back cabin, if you wish.
The day will also include a visit to the pretty town of Bakewell, famous for its puddings.
DAY 3: This morning we travel to the historic town of Melton Mowbray, home of the renowned Dickinson & Morris Pork Pie Shoppe, producers of one of UK’s most famous culinary exports. Demonstrations are no longer possible, but they have converted premises next door into a pork pie bakery and the process can be viewed at leisure through the large windows.
In the afternoon we head to the picturesque and historic market town of Newark. The town in steeped in history and today is market day which takes place on one of the finest Georgian squares in the UK.
DAY 4: First stop this morning is a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, one of the most popular of the Millennium projects. Covering 150 acres, this special place honours those who served and continue to serve our nation in many different ways.
We then venture on to Burton Upon Trent to the National Brewery Centre for a full Flagon tour, where an experienced and amusing guide will take you through each step of the brewing process.
DAY 5: After breakfast we make our way homeward, with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. Aiming to arrive back in Kent late afternoon.
