The Grand Atlantic
With its towers and turrets this impressive stone-built Victorian hotel is an elegant choice for a break in this well-known English seaside resort.
Perfectly situated on the Beach Lawns overlooking the seafront, the promenade and pier are mere steps away. From here you’re well-placed to experience the very best of Weston-super-Mare.
The hotel at a glance
Weston-super-Mare sounds very grand, but it’s just medieval Latin for Weston-on-Sea, and that’s the most important thing about it. This elegant resort grew out of tiny fishing villages some two hundred years ago.
The sea goes out and comes in a long way – the second highest tidal rise in the world – and that’s why Weston-super-Mare has its piers. Weston’s Grand Pier, newly rebuilt after a big fire, is a day out all in itself.
DAY 1: After completing our local pick up route we head towards Weston-super-Mare, with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route. On arrival at our hotel there is a mulled wine reception, followed by suitable time to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 2: After brunch on Christmas Eve, the coach heads to Wells – a medieval city nestled on the southern side of the Mendip Hills. Upon returning to the hotel, enjoy an afternoon tea and some free time before dinner. There’s relaxing festive entertainment in the evening.
DAY 3: Start the day with a cooked breakfast and then the morning is yours to open cards and presents, phone family and friends etc. A traditional four-course festive lunch will be served, with time after that for the Queen’s Speech or forty winks. If you’ve got the room, there’s an evening meal, followed by entertainment to round off the day.
DAY 4: Following Boxing Day brunch, there is an excursion to Bath – a city so beautiful and special that it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. After free time to explore the delights, the coach returns to the hotel for afternoon tea. If the weather’s fine, why not take a walk along the promenade? A three-course meal and entertainment round off the festival get away.
DAY 5: Today we say a fond farewell to our hosts and make our way back to Kent with suitable lunch and refreshment stops en-route.
